Thirty-five years ago today, U2 graced the world with their fifth — and arguably most influential — studio album, The Joshua Tree.
Three and a half decades later, the only reason for it sounding dated is not the fault of the music, but because of the lifetime of memories fans of the band associate with the eleven flawlessly written and produced tracks the album contains.
Everyone has their deserted island albums — those we’d take with us into the great unknown if we had to choose only a few key releases to listen to for the rest of our lives, and for me, The Joshua Tree unquestionably makes this cut.
All these years later, what can you say about this classic album that hasn’t already been said? Like everyone else deeply touched by such an immaculate collection of songs, it’s impossible to forget this particular album’s point of entry into my life.
