Listen now (38 min) | Hey folks, This has been a helluva week for music news and new music releases! Butch Bastard’s new album Las Vegas Salvation dropped on Friday and even though it’s only May, I can already tell that this will be my Album of the Year. If I’ve ever strongly endorsed an artist or an album before, and you’ve listened and dug it, then please go
Always a treasure trove of musical gifts, I was stopped in my tracks by the article you mention about how 50 percent of vinyl buyers don’t have a turntable. That leads me to believe they are being purchased as an investment or like art. I am not sure how to feel about this, as a person who has never not had a turntable. Maybe they are playing digital FLAC files instead? It would be very sad if these albums are being bought and then low bit rate MP3s are being played. Though, I can’t deny I’ve done the same for some of my old vinyl. Especially when listening away from home.
This is a great tip, Chris. I've never heard of this guy, but am listening to it now and loving it. He reminds of Father John Misty, but I think I like him even more. As you know, I am champion of underdog songwriters like this. I have a feeling I will be recommending this far and wide.
The poll don’t lie - Chris was best with Soundgarden and none of the other projects come close to their work. Enjoyed ‘Euphoria Morning’ back in the day but it’s been probably 15 years since I’ve listened. Wonder if it holds up!
